The needs start with the basic needs and then progress upward in a pyramid shape through safety needs, social needs, and self-esteem needs, to the final need for self-actualization. The final need for self-actualization is defined as an individualà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s desire and striving for maximum potential (Maslow, 2012). The shape of the pyramid to the theory is planned to portray that some needs are more important than other and are achieved before the other needs can serve as motivators.It took Einstein nearly twenty-nine years of persistent research to come up with the theory of relativity. He was self-driven by self-realization of his goals and passion. Einstein may have received money for basic needs after proposing the theory and founding it as a fact, but that was not enough reason for his persistent in the research.
